At Payne Anthony Creative Jewelers excellence in custom design and manufacturing is not just our goal it is our expectation. Many years of experience have taught us all the right steps to take to produce the absolute best results.
It all starts with an idea. Sometimes our clients will walk in the door with them already sketched out on paper, (or simply in their minds). Other times all it takes is a few minutes looking through our hundreds of engagement rings or numerous other diamond, gemstone and fashion pieces of jewelry on display in our showroom. Often it comes down to a combination of design elements coming together to form a complete concept. Some individuals come to us wanting a totally unique piece of jewelry. We love the opportunity to help create something as personal and as special as the individual person who will wear it.
To help the client visualize the design we can either sketch on paper or produce an image using one of our computer programs. If a computer image is needed it can be done in 2D or 3D depending on the complexity required. Once refined the image is given to the model maker to produce a 3 dimensional mold that can actually be inspected and tried on by the client. Alterations are still possible and if needed they are the next step. Once the final approval is given the metal manufacturing stage begins.
The wax is encased in a fine plaster like material known as investment and once it hardens it is put into the furnace to burn out the original model. The space that remains inside the investment is then filled with the molten metal of choice. After a moment of cooling the whole flask is quenched in water and the item is removed.
The freshly cast item will still have the texture of the investment and needs to be sanded and polished. If required, accessory pieces are added, Stones are set, and final textures are applied.
Quality control examines the item and either approves the piece or performs any last touch ups. The customer, of course, always has the final say, and we are confident that their response will be enthusiastically positive. The efforts of the team and the dedication of the jeweler pays off.
